Details

This rail pass is valid for travel between Tokyo and the central area of the main island to exciting destinations such as Nagano and Niigata. This 5 day Consecutive pass includes unlimited travel aboard sections of the Tohoku Shinkansen, Yamagata Shinkansen, Joetsu Shinkansen and Hokuriku Shinkansen.

Where can the pass be used?

Unlimited travel throughout the JR EAST PASS (Nagano, Niigata area) including 4 Shinkansen Super Express Lines (also known as the Bullet Trains).

Eligibility

Anyone who possesses a passport issued by a country other than Japan. Note: Type of visa will not be checked.

Types & Validities

5 consecutive days

From the date of purchase, the pass voucher must be exchanged in Japan within 3 months. On the date of exchange in Japan, the user will need to select a start date within 1 month from that date. The user then has 5 consecutive days to use their pass as of the start date.

Note: This pass has been changed from a flexible pass, any 5 consecutive days within the 14-day period from issuance, to a consecutive pass.

Unlimited rides within the pass area on ordinary car reserved seating on local (including rapid), express, and limited express (including Shinkansen) trains on all lines of the JR East, Izu Kyuko, Tokyo Monorail, Hokuetsu Express, and Echigo Tokimeki Railway (between Naoetsu and Arai stations), in addition to ordinary car reserved seating on the Nikko, Spacia Nikko, Kinugawa, and Spacia Kinugawa limited express trains operated jointly by JR East and Tobu Railway. The pass can also be used on some JR East bus services.

To reserve a seat at a station, insert the rail pass into the JR East Reserved Seat Ticket Vending Machines (Note that some rail passes issued at certain ticket offices will not support this service. Seat reservations are still available at ticket counters as well). * Reservations cannot be made for the Tokaido & Sanyo Shinkansen, or for the Kyushu Shinkansen. This site is not available for tickets to Nagoya, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima and other cities on those lines.

How to Exchange your E-ticket
JR EAST PASS (Nagano, Niigata area) has to be collected at one of the exchange offices in East Japan within 3 months from the travel date in the PNR. Passenger will need to have a valid paper or e-ticket and a valid passport. See the Exchange locations on the JR EAST Website.
