Bonuses & Inclusions

Free Benefits

If you travel on a 5 or 10-day flexible Interrail Pass, you can only use a free benefit on a day which you fill in on your Pass (a travel day). In case of a free overnight ferry, you may enter either the day of departure or arrival in the travel calendar. For free passage on international routes, the Interrail Pass must be valid for the country of departure AND the country of arrival. For domestic travel, your Interrail Pass must be valid in the country you travel in.

Reduced Fares

Please note that reduction benefits do not require the use of a travel day on your Interrail Pass. If traveling at a reduced rate, the travel may take place at any time, provided it is within the overall validity of the Interrail Pass, even if all the travel days in the calendar have been used up. For a reduced passage on international routes, the Interrail Pass must be valid for the country of departure OR the country of arrival. For domestic travel, your Interrail Pass must be valid in the country you travel in.

Additional Details

Some trains may require passengers to have a seat reservation.

Seat reservation may be compulsory or highly recommended on select European train. The cost for a reservation or supplement is not included in a Interrail pass and varies depending on the country, type of train and date of purchase/travel. High speed trains and night trains are examples of rains requiring a supplement and reservation.

Pass Delivery

Interrail Paper Passes have been replaced with Mobile Passes.

  1. Customers purchasing Interrail passes now receive a 6 character pass number upon their order confirmation.
  2. If the Mobile pass was purchased on the web, the confirmation will be sent a few minutes after the order is completed.
  3. To use the pass, passholders must install the Eurail/Interrail Rail Planner App from their App store.
  4. Then they must enter the pass number along with their name to add the pass in the mobile phone App and follow instruction in the App to activate the pass.
Seat Reservations

A seat reservation is optional but recommended in order to guarantee a seat on a specific train and time. Reserve a seat.

Look out for the "Temporarily unavailable" sign in Deutsche Bahn's "Navigator" app, because it withdraws the sum from your credit card anyway. This way, we paid tickets (before the date of our rail pass) four times and seat reservations (within the validity of the rail pass) twice. There are many clicks to click through for a booking. For the rest, the "Navigator" app is brilliant. Some trains have limited space for luggage (instead allowing a bunch of bicycles inside). In case of delays, staff can be quite rude, and passengers are left on railway stations without anybody representing the DB on the platform to give guidance(neither is water offered to the elderly and to children when trains remain on the line). In case of delays, and in case you have paid for your tickets, a special refund claim has to be picked up at the DB information center. Keep in mind to record all data on the delay and on your alternative route, as well as the ticket itself, in order to fill in the claim. Refund procedure seems to be very slow. No claims concerning bookings made in the DB app will be answered in DB information centers. Instead, they refer you to an e-mail address for client claims, fahrkartenservice@db.de, where answering is slow and non-precise. Trains are clean and comfortable, also heavily used commuter trains like the Berlin S-Bahn or the regional RE trains. The Interrail pass, that we got from ACP rail, was well known by all staff.
