German rail pass is good valuegrace ,Canada![]() We travelled on a German Rail pass in Sept/Oct 2012. In addition we purchased an add on that allowed us to travel on Austrian Railways to cities in Austria and Italy. We had intended to do some hiking in Bavaria but the weather was not very cooperative for that activity. So, we went to Italy and walked village to village in Tuscany. Very nice. The rail passes allowed us to take the high speed German and Austrian trains so we could cover long distances quickly. We thought the passes were well worth the money.
