The BritRail pass gives you full freedom and flexibility to travel when you want and whenever you want!
You can buy a BritRail pass if you are not a UK resident.
Customers can select a first date of travel that is up to 11 months from the purchase date.

If a paper pass is selected, this pass is printed on official railway ticket paper that will be shipped to you. You can select from the available shipping options during checkout. Please allow sufficient time to receive your pass before your departure.
If an M-Pass is selected, an email with an activation link will be sent. When you are ready to use the M-Pass, click the link to select your first day of use or travel dates. After you have completed the check-in, you will be able to download your M-Pass.
Trains in Britain do not require Seat Reservations. Services are often quite frequent on all lines except rural routes. With a BritRail Pass you have great flexibility at all times when choosing your itinerary! Touring Britain with any BritRail Pass is so easy!
Despite this, there are times when we do recommend reserving a seat in advance. During the ‘rush hours’ of course and if you are doing a long trip (e.g. London to Edinburgh) and when you know exactly the train you want to travel on. We also recommend seat reservations on Bank Holidays, Fridays and Sunday evenings can also be busier too. In addition, if you are traveling with other people and want to make sure you sit together, it is a good idea to reserve a seat in advance.

Note: Passengers who wish to upgrade a Standard Class BritRail Pass to First Class will need to pay the difference in excess between the Standard and First Class Ordinary Fare for the leg of the journey that has not been taken. This may be paid at the ticket office before boarding the train or to the ticket inspector on the train.

The employees of the railways were very friendly and helpful. However, the availability of luggage storage space was inadequate, unlike the trains in Europe included in Eurail passes.

The trains were on time (every trip except for one 20 min. delay), something I found extraordinary compared to service in United States and the scenery was beautiful. I would absolutely do the Rail Pass again.

It's good for my journey flexibility so that I can change plan according to the weather. The 2 for 1 voucher is another great benefit that saved a lot of entrance fee to Tower of London and a couple places. However the pass is not worth for short journey. And the seat reservation is needed and free if do at the station.

We have used Britrail several times and find it very useful. It is a wonderful to see the countryside. Since we are seniors, we 'treat ourselves' to the first class pass, which allows us to book our seats in advance, use the first class lounge in railway stations and enjoy the food and beverages on the train.
I recommend using the Britrail pass for longer trips and purchasing a ticket, in advance if possible for shorter trips, or those that don't have a first class section.

All were very clean, on time, comfortable, and fast. Service was great. Great Value too. We loved the experience, and could only hope that, one day, we might be able to have something similar in the states.

Trains very crowded - not enough room for luggage.(had to pile the suitcases on the table in one case)
Made reservations on several trains, ended up not using any of them, mostly because the trains had different numbers of coaches, apologies for the system not working not really enough.
I had thought that first class was at the "London End", not true in many cases, leading to confusion/frustration.
Of course, the scenery is magnificent and by rail is still better than by car.
Better luck next time??

Perfect way to to England and Wales. Be aware that this is your only train ticket. You will be required to ask the attendant to open the gate for you as there is no chip to do this automatically. Reservations are recommended for the busier routes and times.
