ScotRail M-Pass

Download any ScotRail Pass directly to your phone and save on the shipping cost. With the M-Pass there’s no need to wait in the ticket line, simply scan the barcode and you can enter the train platform. This pass can also be printed in the PDF format in case of loss or theft.

Where can the pass be used?

Scotland, including travel on the following services and routes:

Rail:

  • ScotRail: All scheduled services in Scotland and services to and from Carlisle.
  • Virgin Trains West Coast, Cross Country, Virgin Trains East Coast, First TransPennine Express: All scheduled services in Scotland and services to and from Carlisle and Berwick-upon-Tweed.

Ferry:

  • Caledonian MacBrayne: All scheduled ferry services within Scotland.
  • Argyll Ferries: Services between Gourock and Dunoon.

Coach:

  • Scottish Citylink/West Coast Motors: Services between Oban/Fort William – Inverness, Oban – Campbeltown, Kyle of Lochalsh – Uig, Inverness – Ullapool.
  • Stagecoach East Scotland: Services between Dundee/Leuchars - St Andrews.
  • Borders Buses: Services between Melrose – Galashiels – Peebles – Edinburgh (Service 62), Carlisle – Langholm – Hawick – Galashiels – Edinburgh (Service X95).
  • Stagecoach in the Highlands: Services on the Isle of Skye (except any registered tours), Wick – John O’Groats, Thurso – John O’Groats, Thurso – Scrabster.

Other Transport:

  • Subway travel – on the Glasgow Subway
  • Tram travel – with Edinburgh Trams
Eligibility

ScotRail Passes can be purchased by anyone including residents of the UK.

Booking Period

M-Pass must be activated within 3 months of the date of purchase for UK residents and 11 months for International guests to the UK.

Discounts

Child Discount

Children (ages 5-15) get up to 50% off the regular adult fare. Children under 5 travel free and do not need a ticket when they share a seat with an adult.

Rail:

  • Strathspey Steam Railway: 10% discount on all full standard fares.
  • Keith & Dufftown Railway: 10% discount on all full standard fares.
  • Bo’ness & Kinneil Railway: £1 off all full standard fares (excl. Thomas Days Out).

Ferry:

  • Northlink Ferries: 20% discount on seated standard fares purchased on the day of sailing on the following routes: Scrabster – Stromness, Aberdeen – Lerwick and Aberdeen – Kirkwall – Lerwick.
  • 20% off ferry travel to Northern Ireland – on Stena Line journeys between Ayr – Cairnryan – Belfast.

Coach and Other Transport:

  • 20% off standard car hire with Arnold Clark in Glasgow or Edinburgh.

Cruise:

  • Cruise Loch Lomond: 15% discount on all full standard fares.
  • Jacobite Cruises (Loch Ness): 10% discount on all full standard fares.
Additional Details

Travel is valid Monday to Friday on trains departing after 0915 and on any service at the weekend.

This restriction does not apply to customers travelling on the following routes:

  • Glasgow Queen Street - Oban /Fort William/ Mallaig
  • Glasgow Central - Stranraer
  • Inverness - Kyle/Wick/Thurso
  • Direct services from Lockerbie to Carlisle, Carstairs, Motherwell or Glasgow Central
Pass Delivery

Download this ScotRail M-Pass directly to your phone. With your M-Pass, you can enter the train platform and get checked-in by on-board staff.

Seat Reservations

A seat reservation is optional but recommended in order to guarantee a seat on a specific train and time. Reservations can be made up to 12 weeks in advance. Reserve a seat.

Note: Upgrades to First Class are not available
