ScotRail M-Pass

Download any ScotRail Pass directly to your phone and save on the shipping cost. With the M-Pass there’s no need to wait in the ticket line, simply scan the barcode and you can enter the train platform. This pass can also be printed in the PDF format in case of loss or theft.


Scratch your cosmopolitan itch by visiting Edinburgh and Glasgow; the heart of Scotland’s urban hubs. Pop into one of the many scenic towns such as Stirling or Oban along the way!

Where can the pass be used?

Central Scotland, including travel on the following routes:


Unlimited rail travel upon the following:

  • Glasgow-Edinburgh services via either Falkirk High or Shotts
  • Glasgow/Edinburgh to Alloa/Dunblane services
  • Glasgow Central or Queen Street to Partick
  • Cumbernauld/Falkirk Grahamston services
  • Edinburgh to North Berwick
  • Fife Circle as far as Markinch.
  • Edinburgh to Tweedbank
  • Travel between Glasgow and Edinburgh is valid on ScotRail services only
  • Doesn’t include travel on the Borders Railway

Other Transport:

  • Includes travel on the Glasgow SPT Subway

ScotRail Passes can be purchased by anyone including residents of the UK.

Booking Period

M-Pass must be activated within 3 months of the date of purchase for UK residents and 11 months for International guests to the UK.


Child Discount

Children (ages 5-15) get up to 50% off the regular adult fare. Children under 5 travel free and do not need a ticket when they share a seat with an adult.

Additional Details

Travel is valid Monday to Friday on trains departing after 0915 and on any service at the weekend.

Pass Delivery

Once you’ve activated your M-Pass, you’ll receive another email with the pass attached as a PDF file.

Before you travel, download this M-Pass directly to your mobile phone. You will need to show the M-Pass on your phone to station and on-train staff on request. Printouts are not accepted. You must also show a valid photo ID.

Seat Reservations

A seat reservation is optional but recommended in order to guarantee a seat on a specific train and time. Reservations can be made up to 12 weeks in advance. Reserve a seat.

Note: Upgrades to First Class are not available
