The Queensland Coastal Pass is designed for sales to overseas visitors of Australia. Proof of non-Australian residency may be required – passport, drivers licence, home address, etc can be used to verify this.
When booking you can select a first date of travel that is up to 6 months in the future. Travel must commence within one month from this anticipated start date, otherwise the pass expires and becomes non-refundable.
The Queensland Coastal Pass includes unlimited stopover in a single direction of travel over a one or two month period, which starts on the day the pass is validated (first day of actual travel).
You will receive an exchange voucher which, upon presentation at a Travel Centre or Ticket Office exchange location in Australia and prior to commencing your first journey, you will be given your actual travel pass. You will receive the exchange voucher by e-mail so please allow 3 to 5 business days for your order to be processed.
The pass covers premium economy seats on the Spirit of Queensland only when booked within 7 days of travel, subject to availability. Bookings made outside of 7 days prior to travel incur an upgrade amount to be paid by the pass holder.
Passholders may upgrade to business seats on the Tilt Trains (between Brisbane and Rockhampton), RailBeds on the Spirit of Queensland and any available sleeping berths upon payment of the applicable difference in fares.
Travel directly from Brisbane to Cairns (or vice versa) is not permitted. A minimum of one break of journey is compulsory.
You will receive the exchange voucher by e-mail so please allow 3 to 5 business days for your order to be processed.
Seat reservations must be made in advance as the pass itself does not guarantee a seat. A reservation for each individual sector of travel is necessary to obtain a valid travel ticket.
Brb![]() Enjoyed the trip Cairns to Townsville OLD. Meal offerings reasonable except for eggs and sausage (A challenge). Great value for the bucks and enjoyed meeting fellow passengers during the trip.

WendyDecember 11, 2018 We had an amazing travel experience using the QCP from Cairns to Brisbane in October/November 2018. The friendly.helpful staff from start to finish, ensured everything worked perfectly on our adventures! The bus valet service to and from Proserpine to Airlie, and from Marysborough to Hervey Bay were just fantastic. The scenery, amenities on board, and knowledgeable staff all made our trip so memorable. We wish we had longer to explore more! We will be back! Thank you.

matiasabalo@hotmail.comSeptember 17, 2018 The service on the train was ok. But 1 day we have to wait 1.30 hs because the Spirit of Queensland was delayed. Another day very early in the morning the Spirit of Queensland, was 2 hours delayed, that day was very cold.
Other thing that was no clear for me about the reserve (have to be by phone or at the office at the station) in my opinion it has to be an option to reserve the trip online, you have to make the reservation of the seats before you get the train, with the pass only you can not hop on and hop off.

david downieDecember 26, 2017 We traveled from Cairns to Brisbane over 28 days. Stopping at Townsville Airle Beach (transfer is included) for Whitsundays trip Bundaberg and Gimpie for Rainbow Beach (transfer NOT included one bus a day none on Sunday). Very relaxed way to tour. Lack of car at destinations was not a problem as local and attraction arranged transport easily available. Met many others traveling by car found they had missed out on local info we got from talking to other travelers and transport staff. Parking also looked to be a problem in many places. Would recommend using train rather than hiring a car as easier, relaxing, driver doesn't miss out, a better experience and even cheaper.

Judy BerghoferOctober 28, 2017 I recently travelled from Brisbane to Cairns with a 2 day stopover in Bundaberg.train was clean, comfortable and on time. School vacation so it was full. Baggage limit of 20 kilo per bag is STRICTLY enforced.
I bought a second bag for the second part of my trip.
Much of the trip Bundaberg to Cairns was in the dark so I missed some scenery. It was good though.
Food on board was healthy and good. Variety offered.
Staff wer friendly and happy to talk at all hours.
No problem for them to store my insulin in their refrigerators overnight.
I had no trouble transferring my ACP Rail icket over at Queensland rail when I booked my trip.
I would do it again.
Next time I would ride the Ghana from Adelaide to Darwin

August 14, 2017 Pass purchase was easy & efficient. Instructions on how to book seats & redeem the voucher were spot on; in fact it was easier to redeem the voucher than the instructions indicated. The QR Coastal Pass is a great way to travel in one direction with multiple stops between Cairns & Brisbane. The overnight section southbound between Townsville & Maryborough West is uncomfortable in the coach seating & I'd recommend upgrading to a Rail Bed for that sector. Would I do it again? Yes!

Great value but plan in advance!A.J. ,USA![]() I chose the Queensland Coastal Pass within a 1 month validity so that I could travel from Brisbane to Cairns over a 10 day period. The tilt train was super comfortable. You need to plan wisely because the long distance trains don’t run every day. I was able to see all the main beaches and towns along the coast and spent a very memorable few days snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef! The pass is good value the more you use it.
