The Northern Explorer pass can be used on any Northern trains.

Northern Explorer Passes can be purchased by anyone including residents of the UK.
Customers can select a first date of travel that is up to 11 months from the purchase date.
M-Pass must be activated within 11 months.
Activate your M-pass when your travel dates are confirmed. You cannot make changes or get a refund after activation.
Download the Northern Explorer M-Pass directly to your phone. With your M-Pass, you can enter the train platform and get checked-in by on-board staff. Please show your M-Pass to the gate attendant for the entire group to enter the train platform.
Children (ages 5-15) get up to 50% off the regular adult fare. Children under 5 travel free and do not need a ticket when they share a seat with an adult.
A seat reservation is optional but recommended in order to guarantee a seat on a specific train and time. Reservations can be made up to 12 weeks in advance. Reserve a seat.
