Frequent departures are available each day from Euston station, allowing you to travel from London to Liverpool by train at a time that is most convenient for you. Purchase your Virgin Trains e-ticket here and you will receive a ticket collection reference number along with your order confirmation by email shortly afterwards. Please note: when booking, you will notice that this ticket is called a ‘Ticket on Departure & Reservation’. Use this reference number to retrieve your physical ticket from one of the many ticket collection machines at the train station before boarding.

Virgin e-ticket fare options

When booking your Ticket on Departure & Reservation, the following fare options may be available:
  • Advance
    The least expensive fare option, allows you to book up to 12 weeks in advance for travel on a specific date, time and train. Valid in First or Second Class, your seat reservation is guaranteed. No ticket exchanges or refunds allowed. These tickets are available in limited numbers.
  • Anytime
    The most expensive fare option, allows you to purchase on the travel day itself or book up to 12 weeks in advance. There are no time or route restrictions - you have the total freedom to board any train you want whenever you want. Available for single trip tickets (valid for 2 days) and return-trip tickets (valid for up to 30 days).
  • Off-peak
    A value-priced fare option, allows you to travel for less during off-peak times. Peak hours vary for each train operator but are usually before 9:30 and between 16:00 and 19:00. Purchase on the day of travel itself or book up to 12 weeks in advance. Available for single and return-trip tickets in First Class only. Valid for 30 days.

Virgin e-ticket discounts

  • Child discount
    Children under 5 years of age travel for free. Children between the ages of 5 and 15 can save up to 50% off the adult ticket price.

Virgin Pendolino train services

Amenities onboard all Virgin Pendolino trains include WiFi connectivity, power outlet access, courtesy reading lights and sizeable baggage storage racks. In Coach “C”, you will find a small walk-in shop in where both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, sandwiches, snacks, sweets, newspapers and magazines can be purchased.

Seat reservations
In most cases, your seat reservation is included when booking your Virgin Trains e-ticket. Exceptions include shorter journeys that don’t offer seat reservations or when the allocation of reservable seats is fully booked. In either case, your ticket is still valid and you can sit in any vacant seat.

E-ticket purchase conditions and delivery
E-tickets for travel from London to Liverpool by train may be booked up to 3 months in advance. Refunds and exchanges are not allowed.
