When booking your Ticket on Departure & Reservation, the following fare options may be available:
  • Advance
    The least expensive fare option, allows you to book up to 12 weeks in advance for travel on a specific date, time and train. Valid in First or Second Class, your seat reservation is guaranteed. No ticket exchanges or refunds allowed. These tickets are available in limited numbers.
  • Anytime
    The most expensive fare option, allows you to purchase on the travel day itself or up to 12 weeks in advance. There are no time or route restrictions - you have the total freedom to board any train you want whenever you want. Available for single trip tickets (valid for 2 days) and return-trip tickets (valid for up to 30 days).
  • Off-Peak
    A value-priced fare option, allows you to travel for less during off-peak times. Peak hours vary for each train operator but are usually before 9:30 and between 16:00 and 19:00. Purchase on the day of travel itself or up to 12 weeks in advance. Available for single and return-trip tickets in First Class only. Valid for 30 days.

  • Child Discount
    Children under 5 years of age travel for free. Children between the ages of 5 and 15 can save up to 50% off the adult ticket price.

Services on Virgin trains

All Virgin Pendolino trains provide you with WiFi connectivity, power outlet access, courtesy reading lights and overhead racks for storing small to medium-sized luggage items. There is also a small walk-in shop in Coach “C” where you can purchase both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks in addition to sandwiches, snacks, sweets, newspapers and magazines.

Seat reservations
When booking your Virgin Train e-ticket, the seat reservation is included in most cases. Exceptions where the seat may not be reserved at the time of booking include: shorter journeys that don’t offer seat reservations or when the allocation of reservable seats is fully booked. In either case, your ticket is still valid and you can sit in any vacant seat.

E-ticket delivery
