United Kingdom train tickets When traveling with a BritRail Pass seat reservations are not required, as trains in Britain run frequently on most of the network and it is therefore perfectly acceptable to 'turn up and go'. However there are occasions where they are recommended if you want peace of mind and an assured a seat on a specific train. If you have a BritRail Pass, then you can make seat reservations per person, per train for a nominal fee.

Perhaps you have a plane to catch and don’t want to chance it or you want to travel during rush hour and don’t want to stand among the crowd. Other cases where seat reservations are advisable include: peak time on long haul trains just before Christmas, around Easter, and Summer Saturdays to the West Country, Friday afternoons out of London in Standard Class, early mornings on weekdays in First Class, and groups taking long journeys.

When you're ready to book a seat reservation follow these easy steps:
  1. Click on "Reserve Seats".
  2. Identify the train stations for your chosen route (please note that some cities have more than one train station).
  3. Select your travel date and other passenger details.
  4. Choose your itinerary from the timetables displayed and select your fare 'reservation for BritRail pass holders'.
  5. Make all necessary seat reservations in advance and receive them by mail prior to departure.
  6. With your BritRail Pass and seat reservations in hand, enjoy hassle-free travel throughout Great Britain!
