Day trip destinations outside of Barcelona
The city of Barcelona is famous for the unique architecture at the heart of Barcelona. Dating back to roman and medieval days, the town squares, mansions and churches of the Gothic Quarter coexist in high contrast with the the playful Casa Batllo and more modern constructions such as the Torre Agbar. The city also has a number of sandy beaches only a short distance away from the city centre and arguably some of the best seafood the Mediterranean area has to offer. From April 15th to 21st, tropical Seville lives only for its colourful fair: Feria de Abril (The April Fair). Music, Gastronomy, dancing and fun meet to create a very special atmosphere in the Spanish city every day, from noon till dawn.
During the day, horses and carriages parade about the site, with women dressed in their flamenco finery and men in traditional suits. At night, people wander around the casetas (brightly striped tents), as they drink, eat, sing and, of course, dance sevillanas.
As the week ends, people gather to watch the finale: an amazing display of fireworks.
