Travelers won’t be at a loss when looking for places to visit in the Eastern portion of Japan’s main island, Honshu, especially thanks to two of Japan’s main attractions including Tokyo and Mt. Fuji.  Specifically, a JR East Pass allows unlimited travel on all the 72 railway lines of local, limited express and express trains, including Japan’s famous Shinkansen or bullet trains.  Ride the Tohoko, Akita, Yamagata, Joetsu and Nagano Shinkansen lines, at speeds up to 300 km/h, while enjoying the punctuality and modern accommodations Japanese trains have to offer.

Furthermore, Japan’s autumn months are said to be the best time to visit, as one avoids the masses of spring’s cherry blossom season and the highs and lows of summer and winter.  Visitors will surely enjoy the beautiful fall colours, where the leaves turn bright shades of red, orange and yellow; think Japanese maples scattered across mountain sides making for superb photos and unforgettable scenery from your train window.

Also to note, new this summer, ACP Rail introduces a new Japanese rail pass; The Kyushu Pass.  Kyushu is Japan’s third largest island, located southwest of Honshu.  With a Kyushu Rail Pass passengers will enjoy travel throughout the Kyushu area or a selected Northern Kyushu area.  The All Kyushu Area Rail Pass is available for 3 or 5 consecutive days of travel and the Northern Kyushu Area Rail Pass is available for 3 consecutive days of travel.  This region features many sightseeing destinations such as Beppu’s hot spring resorts, Mt. Aso in Kumamoto Prefecture, and Sakurajima, the active volcano in Kagoshima.
