RailNet SafeGuard Plan

What is it?

RailNet SafeGuard Plan is a replacement policy for rail passes that are stolen or lost while in Europe.   In the event that a “protected” rail pass is stolen or lost, ACP Rail International will either refund the unused portion of the pass or the cost of your replacement ticket(s)/pass, whichever is lower.  The RailNet SafeGuard Plan must be purchased when purchasing the associated pass. The price of this RailNet SafeGuard Plan varies depending on the type of pass purchased.

The RailNet SafeGuard Plan fee is neither transferable, refundable or returnable.

Why do we sell RailNet SafeGuard Plan?

The various Railways of Europe will not reimburse for lost and stolen passes.  We have developed this program in order to offer this service.  Our main competitors also offer a similar plan.

How does this differ from Travel Insurance?

Travel insurance typically offers medical, trip cancellation, baggage loss, vehicle damage protection… some clients do not need or want all this protection or are willing to pay the price for this type of policy.  Our RailNet SafeGuard Plan only covers lost or stolen Rail Passes (not Point to Point Tickets).

What Products can be protected?

This plan applies to most Rail Passes including Saverpasses, Party passes, Family passes and 2-person/Twin passes as well as to National Country and Regional Passes.

These passes include: the Austrian Railpass, the Balkan Flexipass, BritRail Consecutive Pass, the BritRail Flexipass, the BritRail England Passes, the BritRail Pass 'n Drive, the BritRail Pass + Ireland, the BritRail Days Out from London Pass, the BritRail Scottish Freedom Pass, the Eurostar + BritRail passes, the Benelux Tourrailpass, the European East Pass, the German Railpass, the Greek Flexipass, the Greek Flexipass Rail 'n Fly, the Iberic Railpass, the Trenitalia Pass , Norway Rail Pass, the ScanRail Pass, the Spain Flexipass, the Sweden Rail Pass.

ACP Rail’s RailNet SafeGuard Plan is also available with all Eurail Products including the Eurail Pass, the Eurail Pass Flexi, Eurail Saver Passes, the Eurail Selectpasses, the Eurail Germany-Benelux Pass and the Eurail Romania-Hungary Pass.

Tourpasses, Point to Point Rail tickets, couchette and sleeper supplements, seat reservations and special discounted passes are not covered under the RailNet SafeGuard Plan.

How do clients purchase the SafeGuard Plan?

The RailNet SafeGuard Plan must be purchased at the same time as the pass.  Please see the diagram below:

Simply check the radio box to purchase and the product will be added to the PNR.

What does the Voucher look like?

What is written on the voucher?

Keep this voucher separate from your pass.  In the event of loss or theft of your rail pass, you must file a police report within 24 hrs from the loss. You must purchase a replacement pass or ticket in Europe.  ACP Rail International will either refund the unused portion of your pass or the cost of your replacement ticket/pass, whichever is lower.  The voucher along with your police report, the replacement rail ticket/pass and a copy of your return flight ticket must be submitted to ACP Rail International Customer Service along with your claim no later that 30 days upon your return to your home country.  The RailNet SafeGuard Plan is strictly limited to loss or theft occurring in Europe.  Please refer to the specific conditions outlined in the RailNet SafeGuard Plan flyer.

What should a Ticketing Department do with the voucher?

The voucher must not be included inside the ticket jacket because the traveler should not lose the valuable information found on the ticket.  They will need the PNR number on the SafeGuard Plan Voucher to help process the claim.

In addition, the one-page information sheet containing the rules and regulations specific to the SafeGuard Plan product should be included in the shipment – ask your ACP Sales Representative for a PDF copy.

The information sheet is downloadable from ACP’s web sites as well.
