Children under 5 travel free and do not need a ticket.

BRITRAIL FAMILY PASS

One child, age 5-15, travels FREE when an Adult or Senior Pass is purchased. Pass must be of the same type and duration. BritRail Family Pass is available with the following products:

BritRail Family Pass must be requested at the time of purchase. A pass is issued for children traveling on the BritRail Family Pass. The child must travel with the adult at all times.

Valid only on Retail Fares
Two children under 16 years are traveling for free if they are accompanied by an adult only with a 2nd class ticket (full fare or discounted) in the day trains. In the night trains (couchettes and sleepers) the children pay a uniform fee. Please observe that the possibility to take two children for free with a 1st class ticket does not exist. This discount is valid for both X2000 and InterCity trains. Children

travelling on their own are entitled to the standard 30% youth discount. However, unaccompanied child and youth fare is NOT available in Business or Business Premium classes.

NSB PTP

Children 4-15 years of age are half the adult fare. Children under 4 are free (up to 2 children per adult transportation if seat reservations or supplement for sleeper not required).

Additional accompanying children or children who are traveling alone will be charged at the youth rate. Proof of the child’s age must be produced when required.

VR PTP

Children of 6 to 16 (incl.) years of age are entitled to children's tickets which are priced at 50% of the adults' corresponding tickets. A child under 6 years of age is entitled to free travelling without an own seat, when accompanied by an adult.

up to four max. 5 yrs children travel free of charge without own seat when accompanied by a min. 17 yrs adult;
a junior ticket (discount 50 %) is needed to book a seat for a max 5. yrs old child;
6-16 yrs youths benefit from a 50 % junior discount;
